Doing sit ups a good start?

so i just started skating a few weeks ago and i notice i have been losing some weight on my stomach area. i wanna keep this going, so im wondering if i do sit ups after my skate session would that help me lose that weight even faster or is there something else i need to try? some advice would be greatly appreciated
