What is a good exercise/diet plan for a sixteen year old female?

I am sixteen years old, 167.2 lbs and 5' 2. I'm not happy about my weight, not just because it looks bad, but it's also effecting my physical performance. I'm planning on walking to school for the rest of the year (which would be about 1.6 miles per day), but I also want to do some other exercises and eat healthier foods! My exercising would have to be done at night, though, because as soon as I come home, I have chores and homework. I do not want to leave the house if necessary. I have a treadmill, but that's about the extent of my equipment. (I also have games like Just Dance and other sports games for the Kinect.) I plan on losing at least 47.2 lbs so I can reach my goal of 120 lbs. I don't care how long it'll take, as long as I'm doing it the healthy way. :)It would mean the world if you could help me with this ongoing problem!Thank you in advanced!

How to Lose Weight Fast Without Buying Anything

Recommended Answer:

For weight loss, dieting is more effective than exercise. Reducing your intake of junk sugar will help as in items 22 and 106 in http://www.rheumatic.org/sugar.htm The natural sugars in fruits are OK as they are metabolised to glucose slowly due to their high fiber content. Fruits are low in calories and are not fattening. Most fruits and vegetables are metabolism boosting foods and that helps for weight loss.

  • For exercise, the key is to find something that doesnt feel like exercise. If its a chore, you wont want to keep it up! Hiking is my favorite or sometimes swimming! For your mealplan, try to have around 1500 calories a day! Eat 5-6 small portioned meals/snacks per day! Start reading labels before you eat or buy products. Veggies an fruits are good choices because you eat more for less calories and are more easily satisfied. You shouldnt cut out your favorite foods though! Just keep them within the calorie allowance of your meal plan. The last tip I can offer is to focus on how you feel, not how much you weigh! The key is to be happy and to feel good ! I wish you the best of luck you are beautiful no matter what xo
  • Exercising at home isn't bad if you think about it. The only thing you'll miss here is the company of your gym buddies; the bantering and the jokes which spice up the workout programs during rest periods. But aside from that, it's business as usual. What you have to do is maintain the same number of hours and days of exercising in doing your home workouts. You also have to concentrate and follow the same workout intensity. Don't take it easy just because you're on your own schedule now. There are in fact several advantages in doing home workouts.First, unlike doing the physical exercise in the gym where you have to start whether you're ready or not, doing home workouts will give you time to get your bearings before going through it. Your body will be in a more ideal condition and you can exercise better because of this. You have time to cool down before doing the exercise.Second, you don't have to commute or drive to the gym and find a parking area and then drive or commute back home. From your office you go directly home. You spare yourself from spending a lot of time and effort just to exercise which you can do the same at home. The effectiveness of exercise doesn't depend on whether you do it in the gym or in your home. Home workouts are just as effective as when you do it in the gym.Third, there's a lot of savings to be had by doing home workouts. You don't have to pay for the gym and the instructor. You'll have to shed hundreds if not thousands of your hard earned dollars when you to a gym to exercise compared to paying nothing when you do it at home. You can use the money to buy yourself some of the equipment using the money that you would have paid for the gym use.Fourth, there are home workout accessories which don't need any installing such as the dumbbells and barbells. You can also use the exercise balls, resistance bands, kettle balls, exercise bikes and treadmills. It's really up to you if you want a more serious and progressive type of home workouts using exercise equipment or just something between you and your body. You have a choice if you're doing home workouts.Fifth, if you decide to do the gravity challenge instead of the irons you can do the following exercises. Doing pushups is a good way to start your home workouts. Then you can follow it up with sit ups, bicycle crunches, scissors and pull ups. You'll find out sooner that it's more challenging to do home workouts without using exercise equipment. You can jug and jump in place, do abs crunches, squats and jumping jacks. There's a lot you can do without the gym equipment and you're going to enjoy it more with better if not similar results.Sixth, exercise options are unlimited. You can explore home workout routines where you don't have to go through lifting dumbbells or yourself at all. There are dance exercises CDs which will give you the great results and at the same time you can learn more skills like zumba. This is the type of home workouts which you can share with your husband or wife and the children. You can make it family bonding time. It's more fun this way.Seventh, you can vary your routine every day. Unlike doing it in the gym where you have to do the same thing every day, you have a choice for what you do today, tomorrow and the next day. Home workouts should be more flexible in terms of what exercise routine you'd like to do. Will this give the same effective result in making your body fit, slim, and beautiful? As long as the routine won't pose any danger to yourself your choice of home workouts will just be fine.Eight, exercise should be fun and that's something which home workouts can make a reality. You won't get the same freedom of expressing yourself while you're in the gym. In the confines of your homes, you have more freedom to try exercise routines which are not usually offered in the gym. But one thing though, it's always advisable to wear fitness clothes or exercise gear. They're made and designed to make your exercise more effective and also to protect you from accidents.Ninth, do some researches about oriental exercise technique like Tai Chi. You don't have to push your body by doing the rigid type of home workouts. There are some home workouts where you can keep yourself in harmony with the universe and allow your body to experience the healing it needs after being pushed into doing more than what it can take sometimes. This type of exercise will allow the body to return to its natural self. The muscles, bones, tendons, ligaments, cartilages and nerves need to settle down to their original conditions before starting all over again.Tenth, who says you can't invite friends while doing your home workouts? But these types of workout programs should be planned well and not be just a spur of the moment decision. Maybe once a week where you can all come together and change the venue from one home to another.

How Does Counting Calories Help With Weight Loss?

Recommended Answer:

Anytime you start spending more calories than you take in, you will lose weight. For every 3500 extra calories you spend, you will lose 1 lb. At first, you won't likely see that big a difference, but after the first few weeks, you'll notice weight coming off as long as you keep on taking in less calories than you spend.

Will this water diet make me thinner & lose weight?

I'm 18, 5'5 & weigh 139.6 pounds. I know that's not too bad but I'm starting to get pretty insecure about it. I really want to be in the 120's because that is where all the skinny people my height & age are. I have been trying to get over a pretty bad cold now but that has nothing to do with my weight. From this I have had to drink plenty more water which has gotten me to feel bloated. I was thinking, what if I could put my self on a water diet. What I would do is when I get hungry, I just fill my stomach with about 2 pounds or more of water so when I eat, I don't eat too much because of all the water in my belly. I do this every day & see if I have lost much. Yet every time I pee, I have to drink the same amount so I stay stuffed. Will this work & if so, how much weight should I lose in a week? And is the peeing & drinking water right after trick a good idea?

How to Burn Body Fat and Lose Weight

Recommended Answer:

Nope. What it will do is cause you to gain a LOT of water weight, and till put your body into starvation mode, meaning that your body will store fat faster, while destroying your muscles and internal organs.EAT healthy food, eat salads, and steamed greens and lean meat. Reduce your intake of carbs, added sugar, and processed food. And most importantly, be aware that it is very possible to die from drinking too much water. Even less than 4 liters in a day can kill you. Stick ot 1-2 liters per day, unless you're sweating a lot.

Other Answers:

  • Eat as much as you please. Eat mostly beans and oat meal and grilled chicken breast.
  • You only need to lose about 12 lbs which you do in just 6 weeks. Here's a good low-carb food/exercise plan:Breakfast: Cook 9-grain cereal (from health food store) in water with rolled oats and wheat bran. Make a pot of it on weekends and nuke 1/2 cup each morning. Then stir in low fat milk or yogurt, banana, walnuts and berries. Drink hot Ovaltine. Breakfast should be your largest meal of the day to raise blood sugar level which falls during the night.Lunch: Egg, tuna or turkey ½ sandwich on multi-grain (not just whole wheat) bread with bean or alfalfa sprouts, yogurt, fresh fruit. If you had meat loaf for dinner, bring a meat loaf sandwich on whole grain bread (NO mayo). On cold days, a squatty thermos of hot chili, split peas with ham, or beef stew.Snacks: Fresh (not canned) fruit. Nothing ever from a vending machine. Dinner: salad with white meat chicken and fresh (not canned) veggies: tomatoes, 2 kinds of lettuce, 2 kinds of shredded cabbage, shredded or sliced carrots, alfalfa or bean sprouts, zucchini, green or red peppers, hard boiled eggs, brussels sprouts, broccoli, cauliflower, tofu, cottage cheese...Instead of dressing, squeeze 1/4 tomato over it. Or homemade bean/vegetable soups; great way to recycle leftovers.Or grilled fish with steamed veggies.Or omelet: In blender, whip together eggs, tofu, cottage cheese, onions, garlic powder. Cook with mushrooms, chopped tomatoes and green or red peppers. Avoid junk food, fast foods, pastries, desserts, anything with sugar (cancer cells feed on sugar), gluten, syrup (even canned fruit in syrup), peanut butter, fat/grease (pork, wieners, chops, bacon, salami, pizza, chips, fries), pasta, potatoes, ramen, popcorn, white bread, rice, canned veggies, ice cream, soda, chips, tobacco, alcohol and coffee. No oil except olive and mac nut. To keep your skin clear, drink water, tea, unsweetened veggie and fruit juice. Join a gym; they have all the equipment and staff to show you how to use it to get the look you want to achieve, but you have to ask them. Much cheaper than buying your own equipment. Go hiking, biking, jogging, bowling, swimming, rowing, jump rope, play tennis, badminton, volleyball, soccer, jumping jacks, lift weights, trampoline? To tone your tummy, do sit ups, push ups, pull ups, leg lifts, butt raises and crunches. For more energy, take Super B complex.
  • dont put yourself on the water diet, it is extremely unhealthy! although water is good for your body and you need lost of it, it does not supply the nutrients that food does and if you drink to much you can die as it can make your body drown. you need calories in a day to keep healthy! if you want to lose weight try the 3 day on, 4 days off diet, or eat less, move more, or even just eat healthier and join a gym :)
  • A water diet will not make you thinner, though it can surely do the opposite!Eat clean portioned meals, and exercise regularly. There is noquick fix if you want to lose weight and keep that weight off.
  • I'm done with my weight loss journey and completely happy with how I feel and how I look right now however losing weight is a challenge for anyone and even losing 5 pounds and keeping it off isn't an easy task. Also I bet you didn't know that 5 pounds of fat is about the size of 8 cheese burgers? That alone should be enough to make anyone want to get on the ball and start a change for the better. Weight loss can be really easy to learn but the problem is nobody wants to put the required effort that is needed to actually do it, instead people continually look for (easy) ways to do it. If there was an easy way to lose weight I don't think 35% of Americans would be obese. There was a time when I also wanted to lose weight and was tired of starting diets only to lose motivation and give up just a few weeks later after seeing no results. However, let me tell you it is literally one of the easiest things you will ever learn once you find a good and reputable place to learn it from and I say that only because the world is filled with magic diet pills, liquid flush diets and a thousand other quick fixes that promise xx pounds of weight loss in the first week and even though it is impossible they know you're going to do it because your desperate. I have probably tried every diet pill, liquid flush diet, and ab rocket machine known to man and have had no success with any of them nor do I know anyone that has ever had any success with them. I have also tried starving myself which works very well for the first few weeks' right before your metabolism comes to a complete stop and eating just the tiny bit makes you gain weight and you end up weighing more than you did before you started starving yourself. Companies promote weight loss to make money not to get people healthy again and that's because they know you're not going to be a customer and buy their products if you're no longer fat. http://fatloossfactor.com is a site I want you to go to when you have 10 or 20 minutes to spare and I want you to sit down and watch his video on weight loss. He helps people every day to lose weight I have never seen someone as committed as him and that will go so far out of his way to help someone. His weight loss program is one of the best I have ever had the enjoyment of doing and it is without doubt the best success I have ever had with any weight loss program. I also couldn't be happier with my body right now and I have never felt this wonderful in my whole life. In the end you just got to remember to stick with it and stay confident in yourself and in no time you can achieve the results you have always wanted. It's not hard to lose weight but most people have a hard time staying motivated and 9 times out of 10 it was because they weren't really committed from the beginning. Anyways I hope I helped you and I hope you make the commitment to change your body and life. Remember it's not easy to take the first step but you did, you're here right now taking it and the rest of the steps will fall into place. Have a wonderful day.
